The wrong and malafide implementation of the SEZ Act (Special Economic Zone Act 2005) has earned countrywide criticism on the blatant misuse by the State Machinery for a quid pro quo. A large number of eminent persons including judges, politicians, social activists, journalists and writers condemned the State and the Central Governments’ policy under the SEZ Act.
The author, Dr. Janak Raj Jai feels that human memory is short-lived and fades away in course of time. Hence the present book for the posterity. He has attempted to present the whole movement against the wrong implementation of the SEZ Act, spearheaded by Mamata Bannerjee and a good number of social activists. It also contains articles from eminent personalities as also editorials published in various national newspapers.
Mamata Bannerjee, a fire brand leader of West Bengal, went on indefinite hunger strike which ended on 25th day only after the personal appeals made by the President and the Prime Minister.
The complete SEZ Act is given in the form of an appendix in the book for the benefit of the readers for ready reference.
The work is expected to be most informative and stimulating for the learned readers and will be an eye opener for the public at large.
