In the last few years after the terrorist strike on US, momentous changes have taken place in the international geo-political scenario. Terrorism is a global phenomenon. It has become a major feature of today’s world. Today, terrorism is one of the major problems the democratic society has ever experienced. It is brewing in the courtyards of democratic world and striking at the very heart of democracy. The attack on WTC’s building and the attack on Indian parliament — the enduring symbol of Indian democracy and the world’s largest democracy is a matter of great concern, while the recent terrorists attack in Mumbai and Kashmir are the new manifestation of the terrorism. Terrorism is like a cancer and we have to take appropriate action against it.
Terrorism is basically a result of Politico-Socio-economic and administrative malaise and the state should take all necessary measures to solve socio-economic problems, besides military action against terrorism.
The effective and constructive role of UN is of great need. India as a founder member of NAML should come forward to formulate some action plain and implement it to curb this menace. A close co-operation among international community is sine-quo-non to root out terrorism. Today, there is a great need of reviving Gandhian spirit to secure peace and harmony in the world.
